I often record the stand-up comedy shows I’m on, filming the entire show in one clip then using DaVinci Resolve to split the footage into individual sets for each comedian.

Here's a walkthrough of my editing process, including a script I wrote to make exporting multiple clips much faster.

One of the most tedious parts of my workflow used to be exporting each comedian's set. I'd have to select a clip, mark its in and out points, add it to the render queue, and repeat for every comedian.

So I wrote a script that does it for me.

The script adds each clip on the timeline to the render queue using a render preset you choose. It uses the video clips Clip Name as the filename, so if you’re adding multiple clips to the render queue, it helps to name each clip.

Installing the Batch Export Script

1. Download the Resolve Script →

2. Copy the downloaded script into the Utility folder at the appropriate location below.

Mac:

~/Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/Fusion/Scripts/Utility/

Windows:

%APPDATA%\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Fusion\Scripts\Utility\

Tip: On Mac, press Cmd + Shift + G in Finder to navigate directly to the folder. On Windows, press Win + R and paste the path. If the Utility folder doesn't exist, create it.

3. Restart DaVinci Resolve if it's already running.

To run the script, open your project and choose Workspace → Scripts → Utility → Export All Clips on Timeline.

That's it! The script will add each clip on your timeline to the render queue using your custom preset.
