November’s Pick
One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, by Alexander Solzhenitsyn. I’ve wanted to read this book ever since I read James Stockdale’s Thoughts of a Philosophical Fighter Pilot. In one of his essays, he discusses teaching his Foundations of Moral Obligation course Naval War College, and he uses this book in his curriculum. The book is required reading Week 2, which he calls “Life is not Fair. The Problem of Evil.” Sounds like a real pick-me-up…
